Stop Asian Hate

The murders of 6 Asian women and two more people at Atlanta area massage parlors take place in the midst of a spike of pandemic-related violence especially against Anti-Asians and especially against women. A new report by Stop AAPI Hate documents 3,795 reported attacks against Asian Americans from March 2020 to February 2021 – and Asian American women reported harassment incidents 2.3 times as often as male counterparts.

Jeson Lee founded OpenMeal in response to Asian American restaurants suffering repercussions of COVID-19 in the Bay Area – challenged by xenophobia, restaurant dining restrictions, and economic strains of the pandemic.  We were honored to present their work in this article by Amy Zhou that calls attention to the problem and highlights one tech-enabled solution.

We grieve this loss of life and encourage our friends and community to speak out and take action; Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta and Stop AAPI Hate both offer ways to do so.
