If the success of a party can be measured by how late people stay, the February 25 conversation that accompanied our screening of Coded Bias was a hit!

ABOUT CODED BIAS
When Joy Buolamwini, MIT Media Lab researcher, discovers that most facial recognition software misidentifies women and darker-skinned faces, she delves into an investigation of widespread bias in algorithms. Coded Bias explores the fallout of this discovery, weaves the personal stories of people whose lives have been directly impacted by unjust use of data, and shares ongoing efforts towards algorithmic justice. Watch the trailer; it will be showing PBS in March and we encourage you to catch it if you haven’t seen it already.
