[For members] Data equity: Community of practice

Our data equity community aims to meet monthly.

In June, guest speaker, Juyoun Han talked with us about the legal perspective on algorithms used in healthcare and in hiring. Juyoun leads the Artificial Intelligence Fairness and Data Privacy group at the law firm Eisenberg & Baum LLP.

May’s conversation included a discussion on how nonprofits use data in comparison to corporations and what they can learn from each other, along with responses to the potential Roe v. Wade overturn.

April’s conversation ranged from data.org's Data Maturity Assessment tool to the book The Tech That Comes Next and the upcoming FAccT conference.

What is the Data Equity Community of Practice?

This group is open to everyone who has participated in one of LA Tech4Good's workshop programs. These meetings are designed to build this energy into a broader movement for more responsible data practices. The agenda is very community-led: if you have a question or a challenge you want to bring, a resource you want to share, an initiative you want to start, or an accomplishment you want to present on, please bring those! It's a great chance to meet and learn from folks from other cohorts.

Interested? Join our next workshop series and you’ll become a member!
